Process of Bringing Velvet Spray to Life

Step 1

Most body moisturizers are applied to dry skin after you've already lost the moisture your shower gave you. Velvet Spray was built on a different principle entirely.

Step 2

In the shower, your pores are open, your skin is warm, and the outermost layer of dead skin cells is softened. This is the single best moment to deliver moisture.

Step 3

The moment you step out and towel dry, transepidermal water loss begins. Your skin starts losing the hydration it just absorbed. Conventional lotions applied at this stage are playing catch-up.

Step 4

Velvet Spray is applied while your skin is still wet. The formula is designed to bind to the water already sitting on your skin and seal it in, forming a moisture barrier before loss can begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, sensitive skin is the primary reason Velvet Spray Bergamot exists. Its base is single-origin Coconut Milk Oil, rich in lauric acid, a fatty acid with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties clinically associated with calmer, less reactive skin. The formula contains no artificial perfumes, no parabens, no sulphates, no mineral oils, and no synthetic preservatives - the most common triggers of sensitivity reactions. It is dermatologist tested for sensitive skin. Geranium Oil and Patchouli Oil provide botanical antimicrobial support without the irritation risk of synthetic actives. Safe for daily use.

It solidifies because it is built on pure single-origin Coconut Milk Oil, a natural oil that firms below approximately 24°C, exactly like unrefined coconut oil in your kitchen. This is a sign of purity: it means no synthetic stabilisers, waxes, or emulsifiers have been added to keep it artificially liquid. To use it in winter, stand the bottle in a bowl of warm water for two to three minutes. Alternatively, switch to Velvet Spray Squalane, Sunflower Orange, or Sharbat, all of which stay liquid year-round, and return to Bergamot in summer.

The difference is when and how it works. Regular body lotion is applied to dry skin after your shower, at which point transepidermal water loss has already begun. Velvet Spray Bergamot is applied to wet skin inside the shower, after rinsing off body wash, when pores are open, warm, and receptive. It binds to the water on your skin and seals it in before moisture can escape. The result is deeper, longer-lasting hydration with no greasy residue — no chip-chip lotion required afterwards. For very dry skin, skip the final light rinse to maximise nourishment.

You can. All Hibiscus Monkey formulas use face-grade ingredients, and Velvet Spray Bergamot's Coconut Milk Oil, Bergamot, Geranium, and Patchouli base contains no ingredients that would harm facial skin. However, Bergamot Oil can increase photosensitivity on facial skin when applied before sun exposure. If applying on the face, use at night or follow with an SPF 30+ sunscreen. Patch test first, as with any new skincare product. For the body, no such restriction applies - use daily in the shower.

No. Velvet Spray Bergamot replaces body lotion entirely. Because it is applied to wet skin when your skin barrier is most receptive, it delivers hydration at the point of maximum absorption, before transepidermal water loss can begin. Patting dry with a towel after application is all that is needed. People with very severe dryness may skip even the light end-rinse for maximum moisture retention. One application lasts through the day. Using body lotion on top is unnecessary and may cause a greasy finish.

Yes, it is particularly well-suited to humid Indian weather. Velvet Spray Bergamot is lightweight and non-sticky despite its rich Coconut Milk Oil base, because it is applied to wet skin and absorbs before greasiness can develop. Bergamot and Patchouli Oil provide antibacterial action against the sweat-related bacteria that cause odour and skin irritation in humid conditions. The formula prevents bacterial growth from sweat, a specific benefit for Indian summers and monsoon months when most moisturisers feel too heavy.
