What is ingrown hair?
While this is not even necessary because if you are Indian, and are blessed with body hair, then you have dealt with this in some form or the other. But for everyone’s benefit, ingrown hair occurs when instead of growing out of the hair follicle, the hair gets trapped in the skin and starts growing inward. It might look like a dark spot or a pimple, and it could become itchy and infected.
Several factors can cause it including but not limited to: Shaving, tweezing, waxing…any of this can cause ingrown hair. Especially when you shave, you create a sharp edge on the hair, which makes it easier to pierce the skin and start growing inward.
What can you do about it?
Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate. Exfoliation is the best way to remove the layer of skin which is trapping the hair.
Use gentle exfoliators like the rice-based Rice and Shine so that you do not strip natural moisture off your skin. Gentle exfoliation regularly is key! Don't use coarse exfoliators, they can damage the skin barrier.
